USADA will be offering a webinar going over the changes in WADA policy and specifically on the changes in out of competition testing.  There are some SIGNIFICANT changes in the Athlete Location (whereabouts) procedures.

The webinar also goes over some of the changes in the Therapeutic Use Exemption regarding beta-2 agonists (many asthma meds such as Albuterol fall into this category).  The short version is that abbreviated TUEs for beta-2 agonists will be eliminated on January 1, 2009.  If the athlete needs the medication, a full TUE will need to be completed.  Basically WADA is looking for medical evidence that an asthma med is needed and not just a doctor’s note.  This means submitting more paperwork and medical evidence (a pulmonary function test for instance) in order to be approved for using beta-2 agonists.
