State of Women’s Sports
As Lindsey Vonn has just won America’s first Gold medal in Women’s Downhill skiing for the Winter Olympic Games; we still don’t have Women’s Ski Jump competition, and its the ONLY sport to remain open to men only. Lindsey would be a force to reckon with there, too.

Meanwhile, the overwhelming trend suggests that individual sports are more easily followed by the media than team sports, when it comes to women. Someone should tell the IOC. I suppose that any truth in NPR’s observation, will pan out for the better in women’s time trial, criterium, cyclocross, and downhill mountain bike racing. As for the rest of the cycling applications, which tend to be team-oriented, or otherwise less spectator-friendly, we’ve got some work to do. Start here.
